10th eu diversity charters' annual forum

The European Commission organised on 16 May the 10th annual forum to promote diversity andinclusion in the workplace under the theme "United in Diversity - A Common Challenge".

The Forum provides a space for discussion on diversity andinclusion to identify ways to promote diversity in society and to overcome existing challenges in order to promote diversity in decision-making and leadership.

After 10 years of existence of the voluntary initiative network of the European Platform of the Diversity Charters and 4 years of strategic commitment for equality between women and men (2016-2019), and finally after the European Commission's list of actions to promote the equality of LGBTI people, much progress has been achieved in the field of equality,non-discrimination and diversity in Europe.

During this day it was about how these and other developments have influenced equality in Europe and in the workplace, and how we can all advance the discourse on diversity andinclusion, how role models can bring about change and what leaders need.

In this context, two main themes were addressed by several speakers (all moderated by Michael Stuber):

  • Reflections on diversity andinclusion - past, present, future
  • More diversity at the top - can we meet the challenge?

To close this day, a reception was held to mark IDAHOT Day (International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia).

The annual forum brought together around 200 diversity experts, companies, civil society and public sector representatives. The 24 existing Diversity Charters were also present.
