The European Commission, together with Commissioner Dalli, launched the European Capitals ofinclusion and Diversity Award on 22 November 2021. This award is a result of the EU Action Plan againstracism and the LGBTIQ Equality Strategy 2020-2025 and shows how action at all levels is essential if we are to turn the tide and build a Union of equality. 

The new award will recognise cities and regions that are taking concrete steps towards equality at a time when intolerance anddiscrimination are increasing in some parts of society. Applications are open until 15 February 2022. 

It is also launching its newsletter: Diversity Capitals or #DiversityCapitals.

Its aim is to keep you up to date with the latest activities around the award in the run-up to European Diversity Month 2022 and to provide you with inspiration and material to use in your communications with local authority officials. A monthly newsletter, starting in mid-December. As well as an overview of recent developments, you will receive ready-to-use resources (social media posts, visuals, etc.) and key dates to put in your diary. Some of these resources will be downloadable from the award website.
