Description of the action
At Arendt we value everyone as unique.
All employees are invited to participate in this initiative that celebrates and enriches cultural diversity in our workplace. This event has become a cherished part of our Diversity Days initiatives. Colleagues bring in homemade baked goods, each representing a unique aspect of their region or country. These treats offer an opportunity to share not just flavours but also the rich cultural stories, traditions, and personal backgrounds behind them.
To commemorate this celebration, we compile the recipes, along with the stories and traditions shared, into an e-book that is published on our intranet.
Context
This initiative is led by our DNA Committee, aligning with their mission to highlight themes that are often underrepresented. As part of our Diversity Days—a company-wide program dedicated to celebrating and cultivating diversity—this project invites employees to share homemade pastries and dishes from their own regions or countries. By doing so, it fosters team bonding and provides a unique platform for everyone to experience and appreciate the diverse flavours, stories, and traditions that enrich our workplace. Each contribution adds to the vibrant cultural mosaic that defines our organisation.
Objectives
The goal of this initiative is to invite employees to savor pastries from around the world. This event creates a welcoming space for colleagues to connect, share, and discover the diverse cultures, stories, and traditions that each person brings to our workplace. It’s an opportunity to foster connections and celebrate our rich global tapestry through shared culinary experiences.
Approach
This project was coordinated with our internal DNA committee which has been created to put into practice Arendt commitment towards Diversity andinclusion. The event took place on the 14th of May 2024.
Impact
This initiative was designed to celebrate and raise awareness of the many nationalities and ethnicities within our organisation. It created a dedicated space for colleagues to share their native cultures and engage in open discussions about cultural diversity. For lasting impact, all recipes are now accessible on our intranet, gathered in an e-book, enabling employees to recreate these dishes and connect with the rich cultural heritage of our team. This collection reflects the rich tapestry of backgrounds that shape our workforce.
