Description of the action
Theinclusion of pronouns in e-mail signatures and social networking bios is increasingly becoming an important discussion topic at the workplace. Lack of awareness, being part of everyday banter, or simply uncertainty about the use of the right language - all of these may be puzzling for our community. We at Talkwalker truly believe that demonstrating respect, understanding andfairness, as well as tackingdiscrimination andinclusion, requires everyone to ensure that the language we use is consistent with our intentions. With this year's edition of the Diversity Day, Talkwalker wants to encourage all colleagues to add their respective pronouns to their signatures and social networking bios as we strongly believe that this will positively power the day-to-day social change at Talkwalker. We want to be a place where people of all genders feel addressed properly, including use of the correct pronouns. In order to answer those needs Talkwalker Diversity Committee decided to promote a flexible policy that increases awareness for colleagues to include their pronouns in signatures, if they choose to do so. We believe that this can lead to a wider conversation about the range ofgender identities within the community, encourages and empowers non-binary and trans colleagues to include their correct pronouns, and shows both internally and externally that one is a visible ally and understand the importance of pronouns, as aninclusion mechanism. Since this is a topic that some people may not immediately feel entirely comfortable with, we decided to address this issue by publishing internal guidelines on the role and use of pronouns at the workplace and organising an online workshop dedicated to this topic with the goal that a great number of colleagues will follow and join us in this journey.
